sandpoint life

Our special corner of the world is a slice of heaven.  Naturally beautiful and wonderfully serene, Sandpoint is a nationally-recognized hub for arts, recreation, and a great downtown vibe of shops, dining, and attractions.  We’re a four seasons community that loves the sun as much as the snow and the mountains as much as our lake.  We take pride in our cleanliness, safety, and family-friendly attitude.  Creativity and expression oozes from our buildings and businesses and you’ll always find a welcoming neighbor here.

Our Panida Theatre is a
world-renowned jewel and the stage for performances of all kinds, whether Bonnie Raitt
or the San Francisco Opera.  Also check out our infamous summer music spectacular,
The Festival at Sandpoint for performers like Michael Franti or Lyle Lovett. Our regional Pend Oreille Arts Council is a wonderful steward of the arts
of all kinds. Here’s a helpful Calendar of Art Events around the area.

Sure, Lake Pend Oreille is Idaho’s largest and one of the biggest in the northwest.  It is also the most stunning and the least crowded.  You can boat, wake-board, kayak, or stand-up paddleboard, among the many activities.  And of course, just relax and swim or fish.  Soaring over 6000 feet above the lake, Schweitzer Mountain is one of the west’s grandest alpine experiences in any season.  Awesome snow and great hiking and biking too. There is so much more from the Selkirk Loop bike trail to our annual bridge swim. This Recreation Guide is also a great resource for more information on boating, hiking, golfing and camping. Take it all in and breathe.

Sandpoint is quickly becoming
a foodie’s favorite for adventure and goodness.  Lake County meets wine country at Pend d'Oreille Winery, our own
award-winning winery and bistro. If you like hops more than grapes, visit Mick Duff's
for the artisan beers in a frosty mug. Evans Brothers Coffee Roasters offers beans and brew in a funky downtown warehouse that is divine.  Blue skies and bleu cheese meet at our hometown Litehouse Bleu Cheese Factory. And, the best spot in town for fresh local goods and handcrafted arts is the Farmer’s Market – for 23 years, one of the best shopping strolls in the Northwest. Check out the Sandpoint Dining Guide for other treats in the area.

The perfect size for strolling or cruising around on your bike, Downtown Sandpoint has earned its reputation as one of America’s best small towns.  Unique, one-of-a-kind shopping in the shadows of public art.  Tasty flavors of all cuisines overlooking Sand Creek and the lake.  Breathtaking residential living and, inventive business spaces.  Events that attract visitors from throughout the West and, the unique
musician on a street corner.  That’s our urban core and, you’ll love it. Visit the Downtown Sandpoint Business Association
for more info on our businesses, events, and special programs.
